Sanjie Unveils Next-Generation Integrated Thermal Insulation and Anti-Corrosion Technology Platform

Jun 05, 2026

Henan Sanjie Pipe Mart Co., Ltd. (Sanjie Group), a 28-year veteran in pipeline engineering headquartered in Luoyang, Henan Province, has officially unveiled its next-generation integrated thermal insulation and anti-corrosion technology platform. The announcement signals a major leap forward in the company's manufacturing capability and positions Sanjie at the forefront of energy-efficient pipeline infrastructure on a global scale.

The Core Technology: One-Step PU High-Pressure Foam Infusion

At the heart of Sanjie's thermal management upgrade lies a proprietary one-step polyurethane (PU) high-pressure foam infusion process. Unlike conventional two-step methods that separately inject raw materials into the annular cavity between the steel carrier pipe and the HDPE outer casing, Sanjie's one-step approach meters and mixes isocyanate and polyol components under precisely controlled high pressure — typically exceeding 180 bar — before injecting the reactive blend in a single, uninterrupted shot.

This process eliminates the interfacial air pockets and moisture entrapment that commonly plague multi-step methods. The result is a closed-cell content consistently above 93%, translating to a stable thermal conductivity coefficient of approximately 0.033 W/m·K. For district heating operators, this means that over a 12-kilometer transmission line operating at 120°C, heat loss can be reduced by as much as 15–18% compared to pipes manufactured with legacy foam injection techniques.

Complementing the infusion process, Sanjie has deployed high-speed rotational spray-winding lines that apply the insulation layer with micron-level thickness control. By dynamically adjusting spray nozzle traverse speed and winding tension in real time, the system ensures uniform density distribution across the entire pipe circumference — a critical factor for large-diameter pipes destined for long-haul transmission projects where even minor eccentricity can cause premature hot-spot failure.

Advanced Anti-Corrosion: 3PE and FBE Coating Lines

Parallel to its thermal insulation breakthroughs, Sanjie has upgraded its automated 3PE (three-layer polyethylene) and FBE (fusion-bonded epoxy) coating production lines to meet the most demanding international standards.

The 3PE system consists of three functionally distinct layers: a fusion-bonded epoxy powder primer that provides cathodic disbondment resistance, a copolymer adhesive interlayer that chemically bridges the primer to the outer sheath, and a high-density polyethylene topcoat that acts as a mechanical shield against soil stress, rock impingement, and microbiological attack. Sanjie's upgraded line now supports pipe diameters from DN100 to DN1600, with coating thickness tolerances held to within ±0.2 mm.

The FBE line, meanwhile, is engineered for single-layer and dual-layer configurations. Single-layer FBE is optimized for buried pipelines in moderately corrosive soils, while the dual-layer variant adds an abrasion-resistant outer FBE layer designed for directional drilling, river crossings, and shallow marine intertidal zones. Both configurations have passed the full battery of tests under EN 253, ISO 21809, and NACE TM0186 standards, and are pre-qualified for Aramco engineering specifications — a critical credential for Middle Eastern oil and gas infrastructure projects.

Lifecycle Economics and Market Implications

Sanjie's engineering team estimates that pipelines built on this integrated insulation-and-corrosion technology platform can achieve a design service life exceeding 30 years, with whole-lifecycle maintenance costs reduced by more than 40% compared to conventional systems. The economic rationale is compelling: for a typical 20-kilometer district heating trunk line in a Nordic climate, the cumulative savings in heat loss, inspection, and unplanned repair over three decades can reach several million euros.

The upgraded production complex at Sanjie's Luoyang facility now carries an annual capacity sufficient for over 500 kilometers of pre-insulated and anti-corrosion pipe orders. The company has also disclosed that it is accelerating R&D investments in silica aerogel insulation blankets, PE-RT II high-temperature resistant pipes, and intelligent pipeline monitoring systems — technologies that will form the next layer of its comprehensive energy-saving ecosystem.
