Overview
Why PE-RT Type II Replaces Steel in Hot Water Networks
Carbon steel pipe has been the default material for heating networks for a century — and has been failing from internal corrosion for just as long. PE-RT Type II pipe solves the three fundamental problems of steel in hot water service: rust, scale, and weight. With continuous temperature capability up to 80°C (95°C peak), pressure ratings up to PN25 (2.5 MPa), and a 50+ year corrosion-free service life, PE-RT Type II pipe is the engineered replacement for steel in secondary heating networks, industrial hot water transport, and geothermal fluid systems.
◆ 100% Corrosion & Rust Proof — Zero Maintenance. Steel heating pipes rust from the inside out, requiring periodic descaling, chemical inhibitors, and eventual replacement within 15–25 years. PE-RT Type II pipe is completely immune to electrolytic and chemical corrosion — no inhibitors needed, no scaling, no flow capacity degradation. The smooth inner wall maintains its original hydraulic efficiency for the full 50+ year service life.
◆ Higher Density Than Type I — Built for Pressure. PE-RT Type II has higher density and molecular weight than Type I, giving it superior long-term hydrostatic strength at elevated temperatures. This translates to higher pressure ratings (up to PN25 / SDR11) and the ability to maintain structural integrity under continuous thermal cycling. Where Type I is engineered for floor heating loops, Type II is engineered for network-level hot water distribution.
◆ DN20–630mm — Full Secondary Network Range. PE-RT Type II pipe covers the complete spectrum of secondary heating network diameters. From small-diameter building connections (DN20–63mm) to large distribution mains (DN200–630mm), PE-RT Type II provides a single-material solution. Available in SDR11, SDR13.6, SDR17, and SDR21 to match your project pressure requirements precisely.
◆ Butt Fusion & Electrofusion — Monolithic Networks. For DN63+, butt fusion welding creates seamless, leak-proof joints as strong as the PE-RT II pipe itself. Electrofusion provides precision joining in confined spaces and for critical connections. Socket fusion handles smaller diameters. Unlike steel welding, no certified welders and no X-ray inspection are required — dramatically faster installation with lower quality-control costs.
◆ Food-Grade Virgin Resin — Safe for Hot Potable Water. Our PE-RT Type II pipe is extruded from food-grade virgin resin certified for hot water contact. No heavy metals, no chemical leaching, no taste or odor transfer. Suitable for domestic hot water distribution in residential complexes, hospitals, and hotels where water quality is non-negotiable.

Application Scenarios

Secondary Heating Networks. The core application: PE-RT Type II pipe for distribution from heat exchange stations to residential and commercial buildings. Zero corrosion ensures clean water and consistent flow for 50+ years. Lightweight installation reduces crane requirements and accelerates project timelines.

Industrial Hot Water & Process Water. PE-RT Type II pipe transports high-temperature process water at up to 80°C continuously. Corrosion-free in chemically aggressive industrial environments where steel fails. Food-grade resin ensures no contamination of food, beverage, or pharmaceutical process water.

Geothermal Energy & Hot Springs. PE-RT Type II pipe handles geothermal fluids at up to 80°C with excellent chemical resistance to mineral-rich waters. Flexible pipe accommodates ground movement in geothermal fields. 50+ year life matches geothermal project investment horizons.

District Cooling & Chilled Water. PE-RT Type II pipe works bidirectionally — equally effective for chilled water distribution in district cooling networks. The 0.42 W/(m·K) thermal conductivity provides inherent insulation value, reducing condensation and thermal gain compared to steel.
