Overview
Why Rock Wool Is the Ultimate Fire-Safe Insulation
A1 non-combustible means it does not burn, period. Rock wool board is manufactured by melting natural basalt rock at temperatures exceeding 1500 degrees Celsius and spinning it into fine mineral fibers. The result is an insulation material with a melting point over 1000 degrees Celsius and Grade A1 non-combustible classification under GB 8624. In a fire, rock wool board does not ignite, does not propagate flames, and releases zero toxic smoke. Where foam insulations like XPS and EPS melt and burn within minutes, rock wool board remains structurally intact, providing critical fire compartmentation that saves lives and protects building structures. For high-rise facades, industrial furnace insulation, and safety-critical applications, rock wool board is the only code-compliant choice.
◆ A1 Fire Rating - Does Not Burn, Ever. Rock wool board achieves the highest fire safety classification. Zero flame spread, zero smoke production, zero flaming droplets. Mandatory for high-rise external wall systems and fire compartmentation in most international building codes.
◆ Natural Basalt - Abundant, Recyclable, Green. Made from one of the most abundant natural minerals on Earth. Rock wool board is 100 percent recyclable at end of life. Contributes toward LEED and BREEAM green building certification credits for energy efficiency and material sustainability.
◆ High NRC Sound Absorption. The porous fiber structure of rock wool board absorbs airborne sound energy, providing high Noise Reduction Coefficient values. Ideal for acoustic partitions in cinemas, recording studios, offices, and industrial noise control applications.
◆ Hydrophobic Treatment Available. Optional water-repellent treatment prevents moisture absorption. Rock wool board maintains thermal performance in basements and external wall cavities.
◆ Dimensional Stability. Rock wool board does not shrink, warp, or degrade under temperature change. Maintains tight fit in wall cavities and facades for the complete building service life.
