Overview
Why PE-RT II Is Replacing Steel in Secondary Networks
Globally, pre-insulated pipes reduce thermal losses by 80–90% vs. uninsulated steel. The shift to plastic carrier pipes for secondary heating networks is accelerating: PE-RT II systems are easier to transport, faster to install, offer better insulation performance, and eliminate the #1 failure mode in secondary networks — corrosion. Modern formulations achieve losses below 5% per 100 meters.
◆ Zero Corrosion — 50+ Years of Clean Hot Water. PE-RT II (Polyethylene of Raised Temperature Resistance, Type II) is inherently immune to rust, scaling, and chemical attack. No internal linings to maintain, no water quality degradation, no rust-colored water complaints from residents. Where steel secondary pipes corrode from the inside out within 15–20 years, PE-RT II delivers 50+ years of maintenance-free service.
◆ Hot-Melt Fusion — Leak-Proof Joints in Minutes. Hot-melt butt fusion and electrofusion create monolithic joints that become stronger than the pipe itself. No certified welders, no X-ray inspection, no corrosion protection at joints. Installation speed is dramatically faster than steel welding — reducing both labor cost and project timeline.
◆ 50% Lighter Than Steel — No Heavy Equipment. PE-RT II insulated pipe weighs approximately half of an equivalent steel insulated pipe. For DN25–315mm diameters, no cranes are needed for handling or installation. This makes PE-RT II the practical choice for congested urban sites, building basements, and retrofit projects where access is constrained.
◆ Type II — Engineered for Heat, Not Just Warm Water. PE-RT II is specifically formulated for continuous hot water service at ≤85°C with 95°C peak. Unlike Type I (indoor floor heating only), Type II has higher density, superior high-temperature creep resistance, and excellent low-temperature impact strength to −40°C. The same 0.033 W/(m·K) PU foam insulation matches premium steel insulated pipe thermal performance.
◆ Smooth Inner Wall — No Scaling, Consistent Flow. PE-RT II's inner surface remains smooth throughout its service life — no mineral scaling, no biofilm buildup, no flow rate degradation. This eliminates the periodic descaling maintenance that steel secondary pipes require, further reducing the total cost of ownership over the 50-year design life.

Application Scenarios

Residential Secondary Heating Networks. The ideal "last mile" connecting primary mains to apartment buildings. PE-RT II’s corrosion immunity and hot-melt fusion joints eliminate the maintenance burden that plagues steel secondary pipes. 50+ year life matches building infrastructure horizons.

Multi-Family Domestic Hot Water. Safe, non-toxic PE-RT II carrier ensures clean hot water for residential buildings, hotels, and hospitals. Zero scaling maintains consistent flow rates. No rust means no discolored water complaints.

Geothermal & Hot Spring Water. PE-RT II handles up to 85°C geothermal water continuously. Corrosion-resistant to mineral-rich geothermal fluids. PU insulation minimizes heat loss from wellhead to end-use facilities.
Retrofit & Congested Urban Sites. 50% lighter than steel — easy to route through crowded mechanical rooms, utility tunnels, and building basements. Hot-melt fusion in confined spaces without welding fumes or fire risk.

Suburban Community Heating Loops. Direct-buried PE-RT II pipes connect multiple buildings within residential compounds. HDPE jacket + PU foam provide waterproof, maintenance-free underground service for 50+ years.
