Overview

Why XPS Outperforms EPS and Traditional Insulation

The 100 percent closed-cell difference. XPS board is manufactured through continuous extrusion, not bead expansion like EPS. This creates a uniform honeycomb closed-cell structure where every cell is sealed and independent. The result: water absorption below 1 percent by volume, thermal conductivity stable at 0.028-0.030 W/mK even in damp underground conditions, and compression strength from 200 to 700kPa for heavy-load applications. Unlike EPS which absorbs moisture and loses R-value over time, XPS board maintains full thermal performance for 50 plus years buried underground, making it the definitive choice for foundation, cold storage, and inverted roof insulation.

◆ Waterproof Underground Performance. Closed-cell XPS board absorbs under 1 percent water by volume, even in saturated soil. When EPS turns into a wet sponge underground, XPS board maintains its full insulation R-value year after year.

◆ 200-700kPa Compression Strength. Standard XPS board handles floor heating loads comfortably. High-compression XPS up to 700kPa supports heavy machinery, vehicle traffic, and warehouse racking loads without deformation.
