What PVC-O pipe is. PVC-O pipe is produced by taking a PVC-U pipe blank and stretching it in a biaxial orientation process. The molecular chains are rearranged in both the axial and circumferential directions into an ordered laminated structure. The process is purely physical — the chemical composition of the material is unchanged.
Why orientation matters. The ordered structure raises the material's minimum required strength (MRS) from 25 MPa for conventional PVC-U to 40–50 MPa for PVC-O. This allows a thinner wall at the same pressure rating. For a given outside diameter, PVC-O pipe therefore delivers a larger inner diameter and greater hydraulic capacity.
How it performs in the field. PVC-O pipe is designed for operating pressures of PN1.0 to PN2.5 MPa. It resists water hammer and internal pressure fatigue, tolerates ground movement, and achieves a long design service life in standard conditions. The material is suitable for potable water contact without internal or external coating.
Jointing and Fittings
Rubber ring seal joint. PVC-O pipe is joined with a flexible rubber ring push-fit joint. Installation is fast, the joint does not displace once the pipeline is under load, and the network stays tight even under uneven settlement or pressure fluctuation.

Application Scenarios
PVC-O pipe is selected where a pipeline has to carry water at pressure while resisting surge, ground movement and rough handling. The six scenarios below cover the majority of project enquiries.
Municipal High-Pressure Water Supply
PVC-O pipe is used for mains and branch lines in municipal water networks operating between 1.0 and 2.5 MPa. High ring stiffness resists external load and ground settlement, and the flexible ring joint keeps the network tight under pressure fluctuation.
Long-Distance Water Transmission
Because the oriented wall is thinner at the same pressure rating, PVC-O pipe carries a larger bore for a given outside diameter. This lowers head loss along the route and reduces pumping energy over long transmission distances.
High-Lift Water Supply
In high-elevation systems the pipeline must absorb surge and water hammer. PVC-O pipe has a lower pressure wave velocity than conventional PVC-U, which lowers surge pressure and reduces the risk of burst during pump start-up and shutdown.
High-Pressure Agricultural Irrigation
PVC-O pipe tolerates rough handling during transport and trenching. Impact absorption stays high at -25°C, so installation can continue through the cold season and the construction window is extended.
Industrial Clean Water Systems
The material resists electrochemical corrosion and does not scale, and requires no internal or external coating. Conveyed water quality is therefore not affected by the pipe itself.
Utility Tunnels
Lower unit weight reduces handling requirements inside a tunnel, and the flexible ring joint accommodates minor structural movement. This makes PVC-O pipe suitable for mains and branch lines in utility tunnels.
Service & Support
Technical Selection Support
Send us the nominal diameter, working pressure, medium, installation conditions and project location. We will confirm the pipe grade, wall thickness, fitting configuration and quantity required for your pipeline.
Standard Lengths
PVC-O pipe is supplied in 5.8 m and 11.8 m lengths. The 5.8 m length is sized for 20GP containers and the 11.8 m length for 40HQ containers.
Minimum Order Quantity
Minimum order quantity: 1,000 m.
Lead Time
7 – 14 days from order confirmation, depending on diameter, pressure class and order quantity.
Container Loading
Loading quantity depends on the pipe outside diameter — a larger diameter means fewer pipes per container.
Packing
Pipe is supplied in standard lengths and loaded directly into the container. Bundling or end protection requirements can be arranged to suit the destination and handling conditions.
Samples
Sample pipe sections are available for project approval and laboratory testing before a bulk order is placed. Sample arrangements are confirmed with each enquiry.
Installation Guidance
Ring joint assembly and pressure testing instructions are supplied with each order. Detailed installation guide videos and technical manuals are provided, and our engineers support projects both remotely and on site.
Repair and Spare Parts
Socket repair couplings, split repair clamps and repair couplings are available as an ongoing supply so that a damaged section can be repaired without replacing a full pipe length.
Quality Assurance
Pipe is manufactured and tested to GB/T 41422-2022. Product warranty is provided, with the terms confirmed in the sales contract. Test reports covering K value, Vicat softening temperature, axial tensile strength, hydrostatic strength, falling weight impact and joint sealing tests are available on request, and materials can be re-tested by the buyer’s nominated laboratory.
